College Board Student Accounts Information

WHAT IS A College Board Student Account?

You need a College Board account to join your AP class section, receive AP assignments from your teacher, and register for AP Exams.

DO YOU ALREADY HAVE AN ACCOUNT?

All College Board programs are connected through one account, so if you created one for AP, PSAT/NMSQT, SAT, or BigFuture® Opportunity Scholarships, you’re all set.

If you don’t already have an account, please sign up at collegeboard.org/register. A family member shouldn’t create an account for the student. Keep your account information in a safe place only you can access. Use a personal email address to maintain access to your account and scores after graduation. Write down/ take a photo of your email, password, and security phrase and keep that somewhere safe.  Add your AP ID College Board ID and SSD ID if present.

IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE SIGNING IN TO YOUR ACCOUNT

If a family member set up your account, ask them for the login information. You may want them to sit with you while you sign in.

If you can’t remember your login information, follow the Need help signing in? links at myap.collegeboard.org.

VERIFY AND UPDATE YOUR CollegeBoard ACCOUNT

After you have logged into your existing account, click on “Hi Name” at the top right, then click on account settings.

If you need additional help, contact the College Board directly. 866-315-6068

*The Legal Name displayed might be a birth name that you don’t associate with anymore.  If that is the case, College Board has a process to update your legal name, call 866-630-9305 to start that process.  PPS, your High School and Teacher cannot change your name on your account for you.  Your “Preferred First Name” only appears in your online account and email communications, College Board will use the “Legal Name” for all official exam documents and reporting.  DO NOT create or use a second account with your preferred name as your Legal Name.

  • If you can’t remember the answers to your security questions, see if a family member has them.
  • If you try to recover your account, check all your email addresses you might have used.
  • If you still cannot recover/sign in YOU the student must call the College Board at 866-315-6068. Email won’t work.  (Due to confidentiality rules, your family, teacher or counselor can’t do this!)
  1. Make sure your name*, school and Student ID, and other information are correct.
  2. Update any information that has changed — Make sure to Save changes at the bottom of the window.
  3. Write down/ take a photo of your email, password, and security phrase and keep that somewhere safe.  Add your AP ID College Board ID and SSD ID if present.
